Former Palermo director Pietro Lo Monaco says President Maurizio Zamparini's 'mood swings' are 'holding back' the club.

Zamparini is famous in Italy for his continuous sacking of his coaches, and in February 2013 Lo Monaco himself resigned after the dismissal of then Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

“The team has the means to save itself [from relegation], but they'd do better without the over-thinking of Zamparini,” Lo Monaco told ItaSportPress, on the subject of Palermo's current season.

“The team has the means to save itself [from relegation], but they'd do better without the over-thinking of Zamparini,” Lo Monaco told ItaSportPress, on the subject of Palermo's current season.

“The Rosanero chief sacked Coach [Giuseppe] Iachini, who was doing well and had the changing room under control.

“Palermo's objective is to stay in the top league and the former Coach was sustaining results that would keep them safe.

“Changing things seems logical to a man driven to such mood swings as Zamparini's. He acts on mistaken decisions for no other reason than to upturn everything and leave his mark.

“Palermo are a great club but right now they're handled by a man who is holding them back with his way of doing things. He says he will leave the club but that's all a joke.”
