Roma director Mauro Baldissoni said today’s meeting with the council “went well” to end the Olimpico ultras stand-off.

Fans have been boycotting Roma and Lazio home games this season after an order came down from the city Prefect to divide the Curve – ends – with barriers.

These were introduced to increase security, but ultras saw it as an unfair and arbitrary way of splitting up the legendary home of hard-core supporters.

Today Lazio and Roma representatives had a meeting with the city authorities to find a solution.

“An official statement is being drawn up,” Roma director Baldissoni told reporters.

“The meeting went well. You will read of the work we’ve done in recent months that allowed us to sign an agreed programme to improve access to the stadium so we can enter a positive atmosphere and change the current organisational situation.

“Do we have a message to the fans? Yes, we expect them at the stadium.”

Initial reports suggest the barriers will remain and therefore the ultras could continue their boycott.
