Stefano Pioli concedes Lazio had “the wrong approach” in their 1-1 draw with Torino. “It’s not the first time, either.”

The game could easily have been beyond them in the first half, but Ciro Immobile missed a penalty and the Granata had several other close calls.

“We got the wrong approach to the game and it’s not the first time this has happened either,” moaned the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

The game could easily have been beyond them in the first half, but Ciro Immobile missed a penalty and the Granata had several other close calls.

“We got the wrong approach to the game and it’s not the first time this has happened either,” moaned the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

“We are proving that we’ve lost our balance and confidence, as we really struggled after the opening goal. We unravelled, inviting the Toro counter-attacks.

“We could’ve equalised earlier and even won this match.”

Pioli took the unusual step of making two substitutions before half-time, neither of them due to injuries.

“I made the changes to rediscover our balance, especially when defending.”

Lazio unveiled a new system with Felipe Anderson as a trequartista behind the two strikers.

“He was involved and the ball went through him a lot, but people always expect the decisive move from him. He lacked precision and went too deep, but that was also down to our opponents.

“We are missing something in the shot or the final pass, yet were still dangerous in attack. In all honesty, I thought I had prepared us really well for this match.”

Keita Balde Diao came off the bench and earned a penalty, but Pioli isn’t convinced.

“He has to prove every day how good he is and only that way can deserve a place in the starting line-up.”
