Cesare Prandelli gave his view on the Italy job, Euro 2016, Francesco Totti and whether Mario Balotelli “can be saved.”
The former Azzurri Coach spoke to Radio Deejay about the current calcio scene amid news Antonio Conte will step down after this summer’s European Championships.
“I am convinced Italy will have a great Euros, but it would all become much more complicated if people raised the expectations too much,” said Prandelli.
“I consider the favourite for the trophy to be the hosts, France.”

Prandelli resigned after the disastrous 2014 World Cup expedition in Brazil, but would be consider a recall?
“A call from the Nazionale must never be rejected,” he replied. “I would like to get back to work bringing the joy of playing football.”
Among the principle problems in that World Cup campaign was Balotelli, whose career has since spiralled with Milan and Liverpool unsure on whether to keep him.
“I don’t know if he can be saved. We mustn’t give him any more advice, because at this point he is the one who ought to be doing the talking.”
Totti’s career is winding down, although he seems intent on continuing past the age of 40, whether or not Roma offer him a new contract.
“Totti is a treasure for Italian football and deserves all our consideration. He chose to remain with the same jersey and that’s wonderful.
“The issue of whether he stays depends on the Giallorossi owners, but I just think it’s fundamental he retains his smile.”
