Lega Serie B President Andrea Abodi urged Antonio Conte to call Gianluca Lapadula for Italy at Euro 2016.
The Italian-Peruvian striker has scored a remarkable 24 Serie B goals in 36 games for Pescara, also providing 10 assists.
“If I were Conte, I would certainly call Lapadula,” Abodi told Rai Sport.
“I think Conte is in any case keeping a close eye on his progress, even if his era on the bench is coming to an end.
“There is the genuine risk we lose Lapadula and he goes to play elsewhere. Pescara did very well to spot his talent and help him to mature.”
The 26-year-old has already confirmed Venezuela asked if he’d play his international football for them, but is still considering his options.
Born in Turin to an Italian father and Peruvian mother, Lapadula was a late bloomer after spells at the likes of Parma, Ravenna, Cesena, San Marino, Frosinone, Nova Gorica and Teramo.
