Berlusconi: 'Milan buyers want me'
Silvio Berlusconi said Chinese investors “want me to stay for three years and direct the Milan transfer strategy.”
The President spoke to Qui Studio a Voi Stadio this evening on the negotiations with a group in China.
“Milan are always in my heart. I gave everything I could to Milan. It is now an issue of choosing someone who can maintain the team at a high level.
“Milan are the most famous club in China. The objective here is to grow the Milan brand in China via football schools, shops, restaurants, etc.”
Berlusconi did confirm the reports he has no intention of walking away just yet.
“I want to stay at Milan for at least another three years and the Chinese group set that as a condition. We are currently waiting for the American lawyers to perform the due diligence.
“Over the years 12 different groups have approached us.
“If the negotiations do not reach a positive conclusion, I will create a young and Italian Milan.
“Unfortunately, there is so little patience in Italian football for me to create this project and we wouldn’t win straight away.
“If the negotiations do reach a positive conclusion, then they have asked me to direct the transfer strategy. We hope to speed things up so we can reinforce Milan.
“The Chinese group appear to be serious entities. I have faith. I hope my impression can become an accurate judgment.
“Many people have told me not to sell to the Chinese. If I don’t find a buyer that accepts my conditions, then I will not sell.”
Berlusconi also commented on the departures from San Siro this summer.
“Many will be leaving because players like Alex, Philippe Mexes, Kevin-Prince Boateng and Mario Balotelli are at the end of their contracts.”
