Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis renewed Coach Maurizio Sarri's deal without consulting him, say reports.

While the 57-year-old's permanence on the Vesuviani bench was never really in doubt, the form in which it took place was apparently not quite ideal.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis renewed Coach Maurizio Sarri's deal without consulting him, say reports.

While the 57-year-old's permanence on the Vesuviani bench was never really in doubt, the form in which it took place was apparently not quite ideal.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the president made use of the option to confirm the Coach's contract for another year without first speaking with Sarri.

The operation falls within the terms of the original agreement, as the decision on whether or not to confirm the Coach remained exclusive to the president.

At the same time, Sarri was apparently hoping for a face to face consultation to discuss the finer options relative to his contract.

The tactician's salary will be renegotiated before the beginning of the next season, with a projected raise from the current €750,000 to €1.5m, but Sarri was hoping to discuss some other details as well.

Instead, De Laurentiis simply communicated his decision without setting up any talks, and Sarri had nothing left to do but to go on holiday.
