The German international tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while preparing for Euro 2016.
His surgery went as planned today, confirmed a statement on the official Roma website.
This season he scored two goals in 37 competitive games for the Giallorossi.
Rudiger is expected to be out of action for around six months.
