The Azzurri are being showered with praise by former icons of La Nazionale for their 2-0 victory in the first game of the group. After Luca Toni's compliments, now the goal-scorer against Ukraine in 2006 gave his input.

“Belgium have a lot of quality, but they rely too much on their solo players,” Zambrotta said, as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. “Italy played as a group, suffering but at the same time creating opportunities and playing well.

“The Juve back-bone guaranteed solidity, but everyone did a great job. This group can do something satisfying.

“The celebrations and the hugs show us what a great atmosphere there is within the group. I think every Italian is please about what's been done by the Azzurri.”
