Sampdoria have officially signed Marco Giampaolo as their new Coach, after a complicated market drama.
The 48-year-old was being touted to take up Milan's bench, but that job went to Vincenzo Montella, the former Blucerchiati Coach.
Montella's position in turn is going to be filled by Giampaolo, as confirmed by the club from Genoa in an official statement.
“UC Sampdoria communicate that they assigned to Marco Giampaolo the title of Coach responsible for the senior squad,” reads the statement.
“The Coach signed a two-year contract and will be presented to the media at 13:00 [12:00 UK time] on Wednesday, July 6, at the Press room of the sporting centre 'Gloriano Mugnaini' at Bogliasco.”
