Bologna have officially signed Federico Di Francesco, who looks forward to facing his father Eusebio at Sassuolo.
The Felsinei officially presented the player in a Press conference today, after picking him up from Lega Pro club Virtus Lanciano.
“Thanks Bologna for your trust,” the 22-year-old told the Press. “This place is full of football history and I'm sincerely proud to be here.
“I made my Serie A debut when I was very young, with Pescara, but this will be my first true experience in the highest league.
“I can play in the central midfield and on the wing. These are the roles I covered with Lanciano last year, and I am fully available for the Coach.”
Federico's father is currently one of the most highly rated coaches in Serie A, after attaining Europa League qualification with Sassuolo in the last season.
“Meeting my father as an opponent is going to be a great emotion. It'll really be something beautiful for my family, especially for my grandpa, who's been supporting Bologna since the Sixties.
“My father was always a model for me, I hope I can walk in his footsteps and even go beyond.
“But for now all I'm thinking about is doing everything I can in the training session. We started meeting and knowing each other and we've already done some good work. I can't wait to start!”
