Inter's Roberto Mancini and president Erick Thohir had a meeting in the States, but reports suggest they still can't find an understanding.

In spite of the neutral statements by the Coach, rumours keep piling up that a divorce between the two parties is imminent.

Mancini had a meeting with Thohir in Portland, ahead of a greater summit with the higher echelons of the club's new ownership, to be held in New York early next week.

The Corriere dello Sport offers a paraphrase of what they believe was the exchange between Thohir and Mancini.

The Indonesian acknowledged Mancini's skill but asked him to get in line with the philosophy of the club. The Coach was told that if he did not believe in the current project, then he was admittedly free to go.

The Italian, on the other hand, is believed to have taken a rough tone and declared that the team should have been reinforced with an extra three players already. The gap with the leading clubs, he argued, had not been filled.

The one point where Mancini and Thohir agreed completely is on Napoli target Mauro Icardi, whom they both consider to be off the market.
