The Nerazzurri are under intense pressure to sell the Argentinian, as a conspicuous €60m offer by Napoli comes hand-in-hand with the player's dissatisfaction about his current contract terms.

The club's president Erick Thohir as well as sporting director Piero Ausilio met the player on Tuesday in an effort to reassure him. Apparently Icardi was promised that he would be offered a new contract, with a more substantial salary, but only after the closing of the transfer window.

The player was apparently not impressed, and he expects evidence of the club's commitment before that date, when it would be too late to organise a move anywhere else.

As tension between player and club continues, onlookers remark that Icardi did not play in the 1-1 friendly against Estudiantes, allegedly because of fitness trouble. He will probably not be fielded in tomorrow's game against Bayern Munich either.
