Milan have reportedly abandoned plans to bring back club legends Demetrio Albertini and Alessandro Costacurta.

It had been claimed that the appointment of club icons in executive positions was one Milan’s new Chinese owners’ remits, but Mediaset Premium believes Albertini and Costacurta are no longer under consideration.

The pair were involved in minor controversy on Sunday as Albertini incited the anger of Inter fans when he tweeted a photo bearing the quote, ‘I’m not an Interista’, which Costacurta later defended on Sky Sport Italia.

Nonetheless, Milan’s newly-appointed general manager Marco Fassone is still said to be interested in having one former Rossoneri player in his management structure.
