Torino midfielder Giuseppe Vives has been given a two-match ban, while Afriyie Acquah, Edgar Barreto and Federico Di Francesco are suspended for one.

The Disciplinary Commission gave its verdict following the midweek round in Serie A.

Vives was shown a straight red card for hacking down a player on the counter during last night’s 0-0 draw at Pescara.

The ban was increased to two games because Vives also loudly swore at the officials while he was leaving the pitch, an incident made worse by the fact he was the club captain.

Teammmate Acquah also saw red during that match, in this case for a second bookable offence, and he sits out a one-round ban along with Sampdoria midfielder Barreto and Bologna’s Di Francesco.

The Disciplinary Commission was asked to look into video evidence of Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella uttering a blasphemous term – the worst kind of swearing in the Italian language – but the video was not clear enough for a conviction.
