Giovanni Martusciello confessed he cannot be sure of his Empoli job after another setback against Milan. “We depend on results.”

The Tuscans had the better of the first half and were on level terms until the hour mark, but two goals in quick succession sent the Rossoneri towards a 4-1 victory.

“In the second half we lacked the same intensity and aggression as the first, so that allowed Milan’s quality to emerge,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“In the second half we lacked the same intensity and aggression as the first, so that allowed Milan’s quality to emerge,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

Empoli have won only two games this season, drawn four and lost eight, but at least this evening they got their first goal on home turf for 501 minutes of football.

Is Martusciello, who is in his first Serie A experience as a Coach after many years as assistant manager to the likes of Maurizio Sarri and Marco Giampaolo, at risk of the sack?

“All Coaches are up for debate, as we depend on results, but it’s too easy to play this little game where the responsibility always falls on the tactician.

“Tonight I am thoroughly happy with Riccardo Saponara’s performance, as he’s an extraordinary player who really gets the best out of his teammates.

“Empoli are improving and I saw a team with character, but the result does penalise us. We have to keep working through the week in training.

“When there are results like this, you have to focus on the positive.”
