Eugenio Corini is confident in his ability to keep Palermo up ahead of his first training session but admits “I still haven’t met” Maurizio Zamparini.
Former Palermo midfielder Corini was appointed as Roberto De Zerbi’s successor on Wednesday evening, only hours after the Rosanero’s elimination from the Coppa Italia at the hands of Serie B side Spezia on penalties.
“I’m happy and excited, I’m aware that hard work is waiting for me but I’m used to carrying out such an arduous task,” the Chievo legend, whose last managerial job came with the Flying Donkeys three years ago, said upon landing in Sicily.
“I gladly accepted President Zamparini’s invitation for me to return to Palermo, but I still haven’t met him.
“With desire, commitment and strength, but above all togetherness, I’m convinced that we can stay up.”
