Friendly: Roma taught Valencia lesson

Roma's pre-season continues to disappoint with a 3-0 defeat at Valencia, despite Francesco Totti, Marco Borriello and Bojan Krkic starting.

The Giallorossi stepped out at the Mestalla on Friday night for the 40th edition of the Naranja Trophy.

Daniele De Rossi and Juan were absent, but most of the stars took to the field, where the defence showed particular problems.

After 20 minutes, new signing Jose Angel allowed Hernandez to burst into the box and Bogdan Lobont fumbled the cross-shot on to teammate Viviani for an unlucky own goal.

Valencia doubled their lead before the break with a classic counter-attack finalised by Soldado's angled drive. The move started from a Roma corner, so Nicolas Burdisso and Gabriel Heinze were stranded on the other end of the pitch

Maarten Stekelenburg made his debut in the second half and Bojan thumped the crossbar after Totti and Jose Angel combined.

Stefano Okaka should've pulled one back at the 73rd minute, but he horribly missed when clear on goal.

Instead, the Spaniards made it 3-0 with another counter-attack, as Mathieu set up Alcacer's tap-in.
