Giampaolo sees changed Cesena

Cesena boss Marco Giampaolo returns to face his former club Siena and is confident “our change of tactics has given us a boost.”

Although still propping up the table, the Sea Horses have improved recently by drawing against Chievo and Fiorentina.

“We started out with a different idea of football, as the idea was to keep Adrian Mutu as the centre-forward with support from wide players like Abdel Ghezzal, Eder and Jorge Martinez,” he explained.

“By fielding Erjon Bogdani, our style changes and we need a period of adjustment, but I think that over the last three weeks there has been a clear improvement from the previous performances.

“Our change of tactics have definitely given us a boost.”

Giampaolo has to deal without Mutu, as he is suspended for three games, joining the injured Gianluca Comotto and Martinez.

The Coach had success and failure at the Stadio Franchi, as he took them to their club record Serie A points in 2008-09, but was fired the next season.

“The biggest difference between Cesena and Siena is in the table,” insisted Giampaolo.

“They have players who represent the history of the club like Emanuele Calaiò, Simone Vergassola and Cristian Del Grosso, adding quality elements like Gaetano D'Agostino, Alessandro Gazzi and Daniele Mannini.”
