Forlan non-committal on return date

Diego Forlan has admitted he doesn’t know exactly when he will return from injury, but hopes to ‘score in every game’ when he does.

The 32-year-old has been out of action since mid-October with a hamstring strain sustained whilst on international duty with Uruguay.

The forward is anticipated to be out of action for at least another month, but speaking to Inter’s official website, revealed he is yet to confirm a return date with club doctors.

Earlier reports indicated he is targeting Inter’s November 27 trip to Siena to make a return.

“I’m fine but cannot yet confirm a date. I am working well and a lot. We believe there is a check next week to see how the situation goes. Now I’m training alone and this is very important to improve my condition.”

The Uruguayan was then asked for his view on why the Nerazzurri have started the Serie A campaign so poorly.

“Football has no logical answer. There are games in which you do well and others that turn out in a different way. In the League we are not going so well but we also have had little luck.

“Against Juventus, for example, we were playing well and they scored two goals in two counter-attacks. Everything is going wrong, definitely the best will still come.

Since scoring on his League debut away to Palermo and before his injury, the former Atletico Madrid striker had gone four games for Inter without a goal, but intimated he is not concerned looking ahead.

“Sometimes things go well or very well, sometimes less well. Now the important thing is to return to playing, then I hope to score in every game.”
