Diamanti move delayed

Alessandro Diamanti’s move to Fiorentina is on the verge of completion, but is being held up by paperwork.

The Guangzhou Evergrande attacking midfielder is set for a return to Italy after undergoing a medical in Florence this afternoon.

However, Gianluca Di Marzio’s website and Firenzeviola report that some necessary documentation has not yet been sent from China, meaning that the transfer cannot officially be completed.

Diamanti with Fiorentina for medical

Alessandro Diamanti will undergo medical tests with Fiorentina, pending an official announcement of his transfer as early as today.

La Viola were said to have finalised the deal for the Guangzhou Evergrande winger earlier this week, with the player not going back to join his team in China.

Today's edition of La Nazione reiterates those reports and that only a few documents are now needed from China to complete the paperwork on the deal.

Fiorentina are believed to have agreed a deal to bring Alessandro Diamanti back to Serie A, freeing Josip Ilicic to move to Torino.

Fiorentina are rumoured to be accelerating their operation to bring Alessandro Diamanti back to Italy, despite opposition by Guangzhou Evergrande.

The club from Florence have been linked to the former Bologna striker for several days now, but the Chinese club are seen to be blocking their assets.

In spite of that, La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting today that La Viola are piling on the pressure to bring Diamanti back.

Fiorentina admire Diamanti

Alessandro Diamanti is heading for Fiorentina or Atalanta, as he negotiates a Guangzhou Evergrande exit.

The ex-Bologna creative midfielder has been in China for almost a year, but has repeatedly been linked with a return to Italy.

According to La Nazione newspaper, Fiorentina have joined Atalanta in approaching Alino’s entourage.

It’s reported Guangzhou Evergrande are prepared to release 31-year-old Diamanti from his contract, which is worth up to €5m per year.

Guangzhou block Gilardino, Diamanti

Alessandro Diamanti and Alberto Gilardino may be transfer targets in Italy but reports suggest Guangzhou Evergrande are unwilling to lose them.

The former Italian internationals joined the Chinese club in February and July of this year respectively, but they have both been increasingly linked with quick returns to Serie A this January.

Gilardino has been paired with Roma and Fiorentina, while interest in Diamanti has apparently been expressed at various stages by Milan and Atalanta.

Milan are reportedly making plans to move for left-back Fabio Coentrao and winger Alessandro Diamanti.

The Rossoneri are understood to be setting out preparations for the winter transfer window and are reported by Tuttosport as looking for a left-back and a winger.

According to the Turin publication, a likeable name for the defence appears to be Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao.

Milan could try to bring Alessandro Diamanti back to Serie A from Guangzhou Evergrande.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri have set their sights on the former Italy international and Bologna trequartista.

The left-footed free kick specialist moved out to China in February for Marcello Lippi’s Guangzhou Evergrande and helped them to victory in the title.

Diamanti could well be tempted back to Serie A by the opportunity to work at San Siro with Coach Pippo Inzaghi.
