Sarri: 'Napoli are too slow'

Maurizio Sarri was not impressed by Napoli’s 8-0 friendly win. “It’s all extremely slow and bland. We’ve got to speed it up.”

The Partenopei had their first run-out of the summer, crushing local side Anaune Val di Non with an 8-0 scoreline.

“It’s a training session, so it seems strange to me that people are talking about it,” said the former Empoli Coach.

Insigne hat-trick for Napoli

Lorenzo Insigne scored a hat-trick as Napoli won their first friendly of the season 8-0 against Anaune.

Coach Maurizio Sarri debuted his new 4-3-1-2 system with Insigne as a trequartista behind the two strikers.

It’s a role that seems to suit him well, as the pint-sized Italian bagged a first half hat-trick.

He combined with Manolo Gabbiadini, then fired one in from the edge of the box and eventually was set up by Jose Callejon.

'Insigne neglected at Napoli'

Lorenzo Insigne feels 'neglected' at Napoli, says his agent, and 'wants to know his future'.

The Azzurro striker spent much of the past season sidelined due to a cruciate ligament injury, and the signing of Manolo Gabbiadini further pushed him down in the team's pecking order.

“His future is not certain,” his agent Antonio Ottaiano admitted to Il Corriere dello Sport.

“We're waiting to get a sense of the club's project and ambitions.

"I don't think that Pirlo is thinking about leaving the national team,” said Conte.

“He hasn't told me anything. I know that he has desire and passion, like that of a child.

Insigne just what Napoli need

Lorenzo Insigne’s imminent return is likely to provide a huge boost at exactly the right time for Napoli, writes David Lee Wheatley.

He’s been missing for almost five months due to cruciate ligament damage, but young forward Lorenzo Insigne is finally nearing a comeback as the business end of the year approaches.

The 23-year-old winger was substituted after 25 minutes of a narrow away triumph at Fiorentina on November 9 and hasn’t been seen since. However, he recently announced that he is ready to resume his career and such a reappearance can’t come quick enough for the stumbling Partenopei.
