Atalanta are preparing for the Europa League semi-final second leg with Olympique Marseille and even President of France Emmanuel Macron has given his prediction.

The first leg ended 1-1 at the Stade Velodrome on Thursday, as Gianluca Scamacca saw his opener cancelled out by Chancel Mbemba’s strike off the underside of the woodwork.

With no away goals rule, it will be winner takes all at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo next Thursday evening to see who goes into the Final.

Macron makes Atalanta prediction

La Provence newspaper even found time during an interview with President of France – and committed Olympique Marseille supporter – Emmanuel Macron to discuss the event.

“What a beautiful match we have to look forward to,” replied Macron.

“OM really has a great group of supporters. I believe it will be a Marseille victory, 3-1.”

Naturally, Atalanta and all of Italian football will hope Macron’s prediction does not come to pass.

There are more reasons to support La Dea too, as if an Italian team wins the Europa League, then we could see six sides qualify for the new and expanded Champions League tournament in 2024-25.
