Juventus begin Aquilani talks

Juventus have started talks with Liverpool regarding the permanent transfer of Alberto Aquilani, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Aquilani is currently on loan with an option to buy for €16.5m at the end of the season.

Juventus are balking at the asking price and hope to negotiate a discount with Liverpool.

The Turin giants are in a strong bargaining position because the player wants to stay at the club.

La Gazzetta dello Sport understands Juventus are prepared to do a deal with Liverpool for €12m.

Juve send Aquilani back to Liverpool?

It's reported Juventus have decided not to sign Alberto Aquilani on a permanent basis, sending him back to Liverpool.

The midfielder arrived on loan last summer and has been relatively impressive, but the €15m price-tag is considered too high.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Juve directors have decided they will not make the move permanent unless there is a substantial discount.

It will send the 26-year-old back to Liverpool, although it might not be for very long.

Aquilani future uncertain

Alberto Aquilani's future is growing uncertain at Juventus and there is speculation that his place in the national team is also at risk.

The 26-year-old midfielder hasn't been in great form of late and a muscle strain meant he missed matches against Bologna and Milan.

Italy boss Cesare Prandelli is giving serious thought to not picking Aquilani for a Euro 2012 qualifier against Slovenia on March 25.

His place in the squad has reportedly been taken by Inter's oriundo Thiago Motta.

Aquilani: 'My future in the balance'

Alberto Aquilani concedes his future at Juventus is far from secure. “Liverpool set a high buy-out clause on my loan.”

The former Roma midfielder arrived in the summer on a one-season loan deal with an option to buy outright, but there are no guarantees it will be taken up.

“I came here running quite a big risk, as I came on a simple loan deal,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“That's unlike many of my teammates, who have some kind of reassurance or even obligation for a permanent move.

Aquilani or Pirlo? Juve decides

Juventus are wondering whether it would be better to sign Andrea Pirlo from Milan than make Alberto Aquilani's move from Liverpool permanent.

Aquilani has impressed during his loan spell, but Juventus are seriously beginning to have qualms about paying the €16.5m option included in the deal.

The 26-year-old's wage demands, said to be €3.5m a season, have also given Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta plenty to think about from now until the end of the campaign.
