Vargas lost mojo in Florence

Genoa midfielder Juan Manuel Vargas has admitted he left Fiorentina this summer because he lacked motivation at the club.

The 28-year-old winger has explained why his time with the Viola came to an end in an interview with Peruvian newspaper El Comercio.

“I wanted to leave, I had lost all motivation,” said the former Catania man. “I decided to change clubs because I wanted to try and renew my career.

“I would never do anything that would put at risk my presence in the national team.”

Bertolacci – a secret to scream about

Looking for a player to watch this season? David Swan suggests Genoa’s Andrea Bertolacci after he was reunited with boss Gigi De Canio.

When Roma acquired Panagiotis Tachtsidis from Genoa for €2.5m back in July, there was not a great deal of focus on the youngster that went the other way. Coach Zdenek Zeman acquired the man he wanted and Roma were not giving up anything that would be of use in the coming season.
