Borriello 'chose Genoa with heart'

Marco Borriello has returned to Genoa after four years. “It was a decision I made with my heart and I’m very happy.”

The striker had his best Serie A season at Marassi in 2007-08, scoring 19 goals in 35 appearances, but has since been unsettled at Milan, Roma and Juventus.

Official: Borriello returns to Genoa

Marco Borriello has officially rejoined former club Genoa, leaving Roma for an undisclosed fee.

“We are honoured that our striker has returned,” announced the Rossoblu on their website.

Genoa also confirmed the one time Italian international will wear the No 22 jersey, which he sported throughout his first spell at the club between 2007 and 2008.

Official: Gilardino joins Bologna

Bologna have confirmed the signing of Genoa striker Alberto Gilardino for an undisclosed fee.

“We have reached an agreement with Genoa for the transfer of Gilardino,” said a statement on the Rossoblu’s website.

New Genoa signing Juan Manuel Vargas can't wait to don a Rossoblu jersey after completing his move from Fiorentina this morning.

The dynamic left winger struggled to replicate his impressive 2010-11 form during the remainder of his time in Tuscany, but is grateful to the club and the city.

“A huge thank you to Fiorentina and the city of Florence,” said the Peruvian international on Genoa's official website.

Siena – Ze Eduardo and Rosina

Vargas-Tomovic swap confirmed

Juan Manuel Vargas has been confirmed today as a Genoa player, with Nenad Tomovic moving the other way to Fiorentina.

Details of the move broke earlier this week and they have now been confirmed by La Viola.

Genoa have signed Vargas on an initial loan deal for the coming season and have agreed a fee to make that permanent next summer. Meanwhile, Tomovic arrives in Florence on an initial co-ownership deal.

Mesto to Napoli, Ferronetti at Genoa

Napoli have reportedly agreed a deadline day deal to bring in Giandomenico Mesto from Genoa, as the Grifone replace him with Damiano Ferronetti.

Mesto’s agent has apparently been in talks with Vesuviani officials today in Milan, with the player understood to be keen on the switch south, after four years and 100 appearances for at Marassi.

The deal, which will see the full-back sign a three-year contract at the San Paolo, is set to be immediately followed by Ferronetti’s transfer into Genoa, as his replacement on a free transfer.
