Serie B: Entella appoint Vivarini

Virtus Entella have officially appointed Vincenzo Vivarini as their new head coach, after parting ways with Bruno Tedino.

Tedino lost his job after a 1-1 draw with Ascoli on Sunday and Entella, who prepare for a trip to Torino in the Coppa Italia tomorrow, have swiftly appointed former Bari coach Vivarini.

The 54-year-old terminated his contractual ties to Bari this week, after having lost his position in August, and Entella officially announced his appointment today.

Biraschi dislocated shoulder

Genoa confirm defender Davide Biraschi has dislocated his shoulder and is out of Thursday’s Coppa Italia derby with Sampdoria.

Biraschi fell awkwardly during Sunday’s 1-0 Serie A defeat away to Udinese.

Medical staff popped the shoulder back into its joint on the pitch, but he will see a specialist on Thursday to identify any further damage.

His right shoulder was dislocated and it remains to be seen if he requires surgery or special strapping.

Coppa: SPAL see off Monza

SPAL beat Monza 2-0 in the Coppa Italia this afternoon and will go on to face Sassuolo in the Round of 16.

Alberto Paloschi came off the bench and changed the game between these two Serie B clubs.

The former Milan striker earned and converted a penalty before Enrico Brignola added a second 13 minutes later with his solo effort.

Next up, SPAL will face Sassuolo in the Round of 16, which is scheduled for January.

Prandelli: 'Spectacular football is not Viola's priority'

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli said the stats from Benevento were ‘embarrassing’ and aims to bounce back in the Coppa Italia against Udinese.

It was not the best of starts for Prandelli, who said his players must be ‘ready to fight’ and prepare to change their mentality in order to turn their season around.

“In 2006-07 we had great support from the fans, we would never have done it alone,” Prandelli said at a press conference.

Fiorentina: Ribery avoids serious injury

The tests after Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Benevento ruled out a serious injury for Franck Ribery and Giacomo Bonaventura could be back against Udinese.

Ribery was replaced in the first half against the Streghe yesterday, but the medical report has excluded a serious injury for the French veteran.

“ACF Fiorentina announce that the diagnostic tests Franck Ribery underwent today excluded injury to the right thigh,” the club wrote in a statement.

Report: Ronaldo until 2022

The arrival of coach Andrea Pirlo has reportedly tied Cristiano Ronaldo even more to Juventus, as the talisman seems certain to stay until June 2022.

Tuttosport claims Pirlo has made a good impression on Ronaldo since his first day at the Allianz Stadium and that the Portuguese superstar is determined to help the former midfielder win in his initial year as a coach.

And Pirlo is preapared to allow the 35-year-old to achieve his personal goals, convincing the veteran to honour his contract expiring on June 30, 2022.

The big match between reigning Serie A champions Juventus and the Coppa Italia winners Napoli will take place at Sassuolo’s home pitch this winter.
