Real Madrid want James guarantees

Real Madrid are prepared to accept a staggered payment for James Rodriguez, claim AS, if Napoli raise the bid to €42m plus bonuses and pledge to buy.

The transfer saga drags on, as the Colombia international returned from a two-year loan at Bayern Munich and is eager to reunite with Carlo Ancelotti.

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis made clear that he has no intention of paying upfront and is reticent even to make it an obligation to buy.

Official: Murillo joins Sampdoria

Jeison Murillo has officially joined Sampdoria on loan with obligation to buy from Valencia for a reported €15m fee.

The announcement came after this morning’s medical, as he flew in to Genoa last night.

He has signed a contract with the Blucerchiati that runs to June 2023.

The Colombia international is no stranger to Serie A, as he left Inter for Valencia in 2017 at a cost of €13m.

Murillo joined Barcelona on loan in January for €1.2m, but only made four appearances.

Muriel the man for Atalanta

With the arrival of Champions League football pushing Atalanta to bolster their squad, Massimo Nuzzo believes Luis Muriel is the ideal reinforcement.

The usual expectations are no longer enough for Atalanta, as their first ever foray into the Champions League requires more star power than simply hanging on to their talents. Lautaro sends Argentina through

Inter striker Lautaro Martinez was on target as Argentina beat Qatar 2-0, progressing to the Copa America quarter-finals along with Colombia.

The forward found the net just five minutes in, making the most of a dreadful defensive error.

There were some scares along the way, as Qatar hit the woodwork with a free kick, while Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi missed sitters before Aguero finally rounded out the scoreline.

Juventus forward Paulo Dybala came off the bench, while Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul was by many considered Man of the Match.
