Callejon: No Napoli priority

Jose Callejon insists Napoli are not prioritising any one competition after their 3-0 win against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday.

It has been said that Napoli are focusing their attentions on Serie A after opening a four-point lead at the top and run of three defeats in four Champions League games.

However, Tuesday’s victory means they can reach the last 16 if they beat Feyenoord and Shakhtar lose to Manchester City in two weeks’ time.

Sarri: No problem with foreigners

Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri insists “it’s ridiculous to think about reducing the number of foreigners” in Serie A.

Talk of limiting the number of non-Italians has returned after the Azzurri’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, but Sarri made it clear restructuring the calendar would help the national team more.

“Going through isn’t a given for us,” the Coach said at a Press conference for Napoli’s Champions League clash with Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.

Santon hails Spalletti impact

Davide Santon has hailed Luciano Spalletti for making “a big change” at Inter and addressing his ‘problems’ after his first full appearance in a year.

Santon started at left-back for Inter in their 2-0 victory over Atalanta, marking the first time the former Newcastle United defender had completed 90 minutes since a 3-0 win against Crotone last November.

“I’m young, but I’ve been in football for a long time, starting when I was 17 years old,” he told Premium Sport.

Wk13: Take nothing for granted

There's a revolution taking place in Serie A and anyone who assumes things are going their way will be left empty-handed, writes Susy Campanale.

After a break for international duty that saw Italy miss out on their first World Cup since 1958, it was only fitting that this weekend’s Serie A games should follow a similar theme: take nothing for granted.

Gravina: ‘Tavecchio has to go’

Lega Pro President Gabriele Gravina says under-pressure FIGC boss Carlo Tavecchio ‘has to resign.’

Tavecchio’s position as head of Italian football’s governing body appears untenable following Italy’s failure to qualify for next summer’s World Cup in Russia– the first time in 60 years the Azzurri have not managed to do so.

Head coach Giampiero Ventura bore the brunt of the criticism following failure to defeat Swedenover two legs, but since his sacking the calls for Tavecchio to follow have increased.

Montella: Milan can match Napoli

Vincenzo Montella insists Milan “can hurt Napoli” on Saturday, despite the Partenopei “probably playing the best football in Europe.”

Speaking at a Press conference for the trip to the San Paolo, Montella also discussed Milan’s plans for the January transfer window and accused Italy of focusing youth development too much on results.

“Napoli probably play the best football in Europe, but I’m convinced we can hurt them,” explained the Coach.

EDF: No Schick, Nainggolan…

Eusebio Di Francesco confirms Patrik Schick will miss Roma-Lazio on Saturday, while a decision on Radja Nainggolan will be made just before kick-off.

Schick’s only appearance for Roma remains a 15-minute cameo against Verona in September due to a string of muscle injuries, while a groin problem ruled Nainggolan out of Belgiums friendlies over the past fortnight.

Today and tomorrow, I’ll make a decision whether to play Nainggolan,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

Benatia in line for Juve return

Medhi Benatia is reportedly in line to start Juventus’ Serie A match against Sampdoria on Sunday.

According to Tuttosport, Max Allegri has found a ‘new’ player at his disposal in Benatia after he fired Morocco to their first World Cup in 20 years last week.

The 30-year-old had not played for Juve since October 18 due to injury but has come back as “a Czar in defence”, writes the newspaper, given he could be the Bianconeri’s only centre-back going to Russia next summer.
