Amelia: 'Ibra from another planet'

Marco Amelia says Milan teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic “is from another planet” and unduly punished with a three-match ban.

The striker was suspended after swearing at an assistant referee, although he claimed he had been muttering to himself in anger for losing the ball.

“We've seen top players do much worse,” noted goalkeeper Amelia on Sky Sport Italia.

“They could've turned a blind eye or given him only a one-game ban, especially at this moment in which champions have to entertain the public.

Juve open talks for Pirlo and Monty

Juventus have started negotiations for Andrea Pirlo and Riccardo Montolivo, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta told Sky Italia on Tuesday that he plans to add two or three players of quality to the squad.

Pirlo is among Juventus' top priorities and the fact his contract is due to expire in June makes the prospect of a free transfer a tempting opportunity.

As for Fiorentina, well, Riccardo Montolivo's agent told reporters on Tuesday that he is willing to listen to offers.

Milan fail in Ibra appeal

Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the League games against Brescia and Bologna after having his appeal against a ban rejected.

The Swede was slapped with a three-match stop after the win in Fiorentina for an accumulation of yellow cards, before he was sent-off for using foul and abusive language against match officials.

The former Barcelona player missed last weekend's 3-0 win over Sampdoria, but his club were hoping to have the rest of his ban reduced.

Line-ups: Ibra-Cassano face Palermo

Zlatan Ibrahimovic returns to partner Antonio Cassano, as Milan welcome Palermo in the Coppa Italia semi-final.

The first leg kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 UK time and sees many injury problems for the Rossoneri.

Coach Max Allegri must do without Gianluca Zambrotta, Mario Yepes, Mark Van Bommel, Christian Abbiati, Massimo Ambrosini, Daniele Bonera, Pippo Inzaghi, Marek Jankulovski, Alessandro Nesta and Alexandre Pato.

Ibrahimovic is available because his three-match ban only applies to Serie A matches.

Galliani: 'Ibra targeted by referees'

Adriano Galliani insists no top Milan stars will be sold despite a poor financial year and suggests “Zlatan Ibrahimovic is targeted by referees.”

Today's Board of Directors meeting confirmed that the club ran at a loss of €69.7m in 2010, a massive increase from the €9.8m in 2009.

“Milan are forced to reduce costs and that includes the wage bill, but we won't raise funds by selling big players,” said the Vice-President.

Allegri grateful for Milan draw

Massimiliano Allegri feels “the important thing was not to lose” after a dramatic Coppa Italia semi-final with Palermo.

“The lads had a great start and took the lead, then didn't take more chances and conceded the equaliser. Palermo caused us problems on the counter and we risked conceding a third,” he said of the 2-2 draw at San Siro.

“The important thing was not to lose and keep the tie open ahead of the second leg, so we can focus on Serie A. When the time comes we'll prepare for the decider in Palermo.”

Rossi: Milan are very strong

Palermo Coach Delio Rossi claims his side are the underdogs ahead of Wednesday night's Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan.

Palermo recently beat Milan 1-0 in Sicily, but their troubles since the start of New Year mean the League leaders are naturally the favourites.

"Tomorrow's game against Milan is only important because it's the next one," Rossi said. "There are others to play after that.
