Legrottaglie has Milan wish

Despite playing just 33 minutes for Milan, Nicola Legrottaglie wants a new contract with the Italian champions.

The veteran defender joined the Rossoneri in January, after his surprise move from Juventus, but he picked up an injury on his debut and never got another chance.

Legrottaglie's agreement expires next month, but he'd like to remain with the freshly-crowned Scudetto winners.

Parolo good enough for Milan

Marco Parolo has got what is needed to play for Italian champions Milan, says Cesena boss Massimo Ficcadenti.

Parolo has had a wonderful debut campaign in Serie A and is expected to move on to a bigger club.

Sides such as Palermo, Fiorentina and Genoa have been paired, but so too have the Rossoneri.

"Parolo is a great player," Ficcadenti noted. "I know that he is being looked at by important clubs, but nothing has been decided yet.

"Milan? That is a possibility."

Milan last Italian club for Gattuso

Gennaro Gattuso will not join another Italian club if he decides to leave Milan at the end of this season.

The 2006 World Cup winner has been linked with a summer transfer given that he is now 33-years-old.

However, unlike Andrea Pirlo who looks set to join Juventus, Gattuso's representative insists that the player would be unable to wear the colours of another Serie A club.

"I think he'll stay at Milan," Andrea D'Amico noted. "However, if he was to leave, he'd never go to an Italian side after the Rossoneri.

Galliani talks stars, transfers and Mr X

Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has discussed transfers and spoken of his desire to beat Inter to a second Scudetto star, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Rossoneri official was questioned on numerous topics following the club's Scudetto success this term.

"We have to get the second star before Inter," he remarked. "This Scudetto was important because it put a stop to Inter after their five in a row."

Pirlo pushed towards Juventus

Andrea Pirlo is likely to be playing for Juventus next season after leaving Milan, his agent has commented.

The midfielder this week confirmed that he wouldn't be remaining with the Italian champions once his contract expires in June.

A switch to Juventus has been rumoured for months and it indeed now looks like such a transfer will occur.

"A final decision will be made in the next few days, but I think Juventus are the prime candidates," Tulio Tinti noted.

Milan counting on Seedorf bond

Milan director general Ariedo Braida believes it will be difficult for Clarence Seedorf to leave the club.

The Dutchman is out of contract next month and he's currently pondering his options for the future.

He held talks with Vice-President Adriano Galliani this week where a one-year deal was offered to him.

Seedorf refused to sign though, instead he asked for a little time and requested talks with boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Boateng '90 per cent' staying at Milan

Genoa President Enrico Preziosi is “90 per cent” sure Kevin-Prince Boateng will stay at Milan and admits Diego Milito won't be returning either.

The Grifone signed Boateng from Portsmouth in the summer to then immediately loan him to the Rossoneri, but details of a permanent transfer are still up in the air.

“We'll meet with Adriano Galliani on Tuesday. If we don't resolve it then, it means we have serious problems,” explained Preziosi.

Pirlo farewell at Milan barbecue

Milan's end-of-season barbecue also gave Andrea Pirlo the opportunity to say goodbye after 10 years at the club.

The whole team came together after today's training session for a barbecue in the Milanello training ground, complete with champagne to celebrate the Scudetto.

The team travels to Udine tomorrow to prepare for Sunday night's final Serie A game.

It was therefore the perfect opportunity for Pirlo to say goodbye to his teammates, as he has confirmed he won't renew his contract when it expires on June 30.

Protection rather than Pirlo

Andrea Pirlo is leaving Milan after a decade shaping attacks. Rob Paton reflects on the playmaker's development and decline of his unique role

Whilst Andrea Pirlo's final season with the Diavolo has perhaps been his most frustrating, it is important to reflect on more than wage demands and injury concerns when discussing the significance of the playmaker's decision to leave San Siro.

It was Carlo Mazzone who first put Pirlo in the deep-laying regista role he has since become famous for, in order to accommodate the originally up-and-coming trequartista in the same team as Roberto Baggio. Then arriving at Milan as Manuel Rui Costa did, Carlo Ancelotti decided to continue the tactical realignment.

Pato targets Milan symbol status

Alexandre Pato has committed his entire career to Milan. "I want to be like Paolo Maldini," he said.

Interviewed by the Gazzetta dello Sport following the club's Scudetto success, Pato insisted that he'd be happy to stay at the club for some time to come.

"I don't look at it like Zlatan Ibrahimovic," he said. "I want to stay here and become a flag bearer for this club, like Paolo Maldini. However, to become a symbol of a team you have to win a lot."
