Lazio look to Romagnoli

Lazio have contacted Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli, according to Tuttosport, knowing the defender has always supported the Biancocelesti.

Although Romagnoli came up through the Roma youth academy and was sold to Milan for €25m in the summer of 2015, he never disguised his love for Lazio.

This could be a decisive element for his future, as it’s reported Simone Inzaghi and President Claudio Lotito are courting the centre-back for next season.

Serie A plan to conclude on July 2

If Serie A does resume on May 20, the plan would be to conclude the season on July 2, playing the outstanding Week 25 fixtures first, then the remaining 12 rounds.

The campaign was halted after March 8 due to the coronavirus pandemic and FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has mentioned May 20 as a pencilled-in date to resume playing.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, the plan is to use May 20 for the outstanding Week 25 games, which were postponed at the end of February.

Those are Atalanta-Sassuolo, Inter-Sampdoria, Torino-Parma and Verona-Cagliari.

Paqueta floated by Benfica for Florentino

Reports are growing that Benfica have targeted Milan flop Lucas Paquetà, so could include Florentino Luis in an exchange deal.

The Rossoneri paid Flamengo €38.4m plus bonuses in January 2019, but the Brazilian midfielder has not lived up to expectations and was already on the market mid-season.

In order to avoid making a loss on the 22-year-old, Milan need to get at least €28m, which is looking increasingly unlikely in the current climate.

Spalletti new Milan favourite?

Luciano Spalletti is becoming the new favourite to take the Milan job next season, according to reports, as Ralf Rangnick is getting cold feet.

The Rossoneri have improved considerably under Stefano Pioli, who replaced Marco Giampaolo just a couple of months after Gennaro Gattuso walked away, but the club is already looking to the future.

Multiple sources in Germany and Italy suggest Rangnick is the first choice, with ex-Milan director Zvonimir Boban confirming there was contact, but a deal seems a long way off.

Li slams 'emotionless' Elliott

Former Milan President Yonghong Li has hit out at current owners Elliott Management for treating the club like ‘an emotionless investment’.

Li was forced to hand Milan over to Elliott in July 2018 after he defaulted on a loan used to help buy the club, lent to him by the hedge fund.

However, the Chinese businessman [pictured, right] is not a fan of how the Rossoneri have since been run, claiming they ‘deserve better’.

Another bout of last round drama was in store for the 2001-02 season as three teams went into the final day with a chance of claiming the Scudetto. Juventus eventually came out on top, beating champions Roma and Inter to the trophy, the Old Lady’s first title since 1997-98.
