Serie A applies for five subs

The FIGC has officially applied for Serie A clubs to be awarded five substitutions in matches.

Serie A sides are currently entitled to use up to three of their 12 subs during League games, but that could be about to change.

As per ANSA, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina has sent an application to the International Football Association Board (IFAB), asking for an increase.

IFAB, not FIFA, is the governing body that controls the Laws of the Game in the sport of association football.

Dunga: 'Paqueta can't save Milan'

Former Brazil coach Dunga said Milan can’t expect 22-year-old Lucas Paqueta to “solve their problems on his own.”

Paqueta came to the Rossoneri in January this year and has since played 22 games in Serie A, scoring once since his €35m transfer from Flamengo.

Dunga is afraid the Italian giant have placed far too much importance on his performances since the 22-year-old arrived.

Castillejo 'out for 10 days'

Milan winger Samu Castillejo may not be back until after the international break due to a fresh hamstring injury.

The Spaniard limped off during Rossoneri's 2-1 home defeat to Lazio yesterday.

Now, MilanNews.it reports tests came back with a thigh strain, which will keep him out for "10 days", ruling him out of the trip to Juventus this weekend.

With the international break fast approaching, the 24-year-old should be fit to face Napoli in three weeks' time.

Sala: 'San Siro plans impossible'

Milan mayor Beppe Sala has warned both Inter and the Rossoneri that current proposals for their new stadium will be "impossible" to push through.

The two Milan clubs are eager to leave San Siro, which they believe can't be refurbished to modern standards.

They presented their plans at the end of September and while they received approval from the municipal council last week, it was only conditional.

Many Italians don't understand racism

Football fans are a mere microcosm of society and what Mario Balotelli faced in Verona reflected a larger issue, writes Susy Campanale.

Mario Balotelli was subjected to racist abuse at the Stadio Bentegodi. This, somehow, is still up for debate in Italy. It is not about Italian football at this point, nor is it helpful to note all the recent incidents of racism in the Premier League, Ligue 1 and most blatantly in Bulgaria.

Capello: 'Milan have no personality'

Former Milan boss Fabio Capello claims the Rossoneri “don’t have any personality” after another poor performance against Lazio.

Milan lost 2-1 to Lazio last night, condemning them to their worst start for 78 years, and Capello admits he is worried about the club he led to so much success in the 1990s.

“Milan are in trouble, the 73-year-old told Radio Anch’io Sport.

“The players aren’t of a great level, you can tell. They are playing with fear.”

Bologna in Zlatan talks

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be returning to Italy as talks continue between the LA Galaxy striker and Bologna.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports agent Mino Raiola is in constant dialogue with Bologna, whose coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has already spoken to Ibrahimovic over the phone.

“In December, I will tell you everything,” the Swedish superstar told the newspaper.

The veteran is rumoured to have a good relationship with Mihajlovic and might be willing to come help out at the Dall’Ara when the transfer market re-opens in January.

Lazio have what Milan need

The elements that allowed Lazio to conquer San Siro after 30 years are also what Milan lack the most, notes Marcello Cossali-Francis.

Yes, they lost and yes, everything seemed to go wrong in the final 15 minutes, but there are signs that this Milan side is capable of good things. The results might not be any better than under Marco Giampaolo, but the performances are most definitely an improvement.
