Bakayoko seeks Milan comeback

Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is angling for a return to Milan, suggest Tuttosport, after his loan spell with Monaco ended.

He turns 26 in August and is still looking for some stability in his career, having managed two goal and two assists in his 23 competitive appearances for Monaco this season.

Bakayoko is under contract with Chelsea until June 2022, but is not part of their plans for the future either.

According to Tuttosport, he has sent out feelers for a potential return to San Siro for Milan.

Boga eyed as Callejon heir

Napoli have made Sassuolo winger Jeremie Boga their number one choice to replace Jose Callejon, according to La Repubblica.

Callejon has been at the Stadio San Paolo for seven years, but his contract is due to expire at the end of this season and he does not seem any closer to agreeing an extension.

He had already begun to fall down the pecking order under coach Gennaro Gattuso, who is looking for alternatives.

Chiellini: 'Bonucci lacked logic'

Giorgio Chiellini has criticised Leonardo Bonucci’s decision to leave Juventus in 2017. “I would’ve understood if he went to Real Madrid, but to that Milan?”

Bonucci made a stunning switch to Milan during the summer of Yonghong Li but struggled to settle at San Siro and ended up returning to Juve the following year.

On this day, in another dimension

Today was meant to be the final round of the 2019-20 Serie A season, so Martin Mork looked into the alternate dimension to predict what might’ve happened…

The 2019-20 Serie A season should have been completed this afternoon and the Scudetto would have been assigned to one of the top teams. Would it have been Juventus, Lazio or Inter? And would SPAL and Brescia have been able to climb out of the relegation zone if the season hadn’t been interrupted?

Refereeing designator Nicola Rizzoli assures Serie A will be able to count on VAR technology when the season resumes. ‘We made enormous efforts to secure everything.’

There were concerns that social distancing guidelines would scupper the use of the Video Assistant Referee system during the coronavirus pandemic.

“We made enormous efforts to secure everything and we will be able to resume by using technology,” Rizzoli told Rai Radio 1.

Most Serie A teams start group training

Now that the medical protocol has been approved, most Serie A teams are already training in groups, but some are still keeping social distancing until Monday.

The FIGC, Government, Lega Serie A and Players’ Association finally reached an agreement on the medical protocol for contact training this week, after several versions were rejected.

It has given them the option of working in games between ranks and reducing social distancing, but not everyone has taken that opportunity up yet.
