Martinez: 'Lukaku so happy at Inter'

Belgium Coach Roberto Martinez credits the new experience at Inter with making ex-Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku “free and happy.”

The centre-forward’s change after two goals in as many Serie A games has impressed on international duty.

“This is the first time I have seen him free and happy,” Martinez said in a Press conference ahead of today’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Scotland.

“Going back to many camps I have not seen Rom so focused, so happy, so refreshed by the new challenge.

Mertens: 'I'd like Napoli change'

Dries Mertens considers his Napoli future, change of position based on Belgium and challenging for the Scudetto.

The striker’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, so he could in theory begin negotiating with a new club from January.

“I am at Napoli, that is my future,” he told Tuttomercatoweb after Belgium’s 4-0 Euro 2020 victory in San Marino.

He was asked if he’d like a return to a wide role at Napoli, the one he still holds for Belgium even after his success as a False 9 at club level.

'Blame FIGC for racism in Italy'

Romelu Lukaku’s Belgium teammate Vincent Kompany claims the FIGC is to blame for racism in Italian football due to its lack of diversity.

Cagliari fans subjected Lukaku to monkey chants as he took a penalty during Inter’s 2-1 win at the Sardegna Arena last weekend, which Nerazzurri ultras controversially justified.

Martinez: 'Lukaku underappreciated'

Inter striker Romelu Lukaku “hasn’t been appreciated in the British game,” argues Belgium Coach Roberto Martinez.

The 26-year-old scored on his Serie A debut in a 4-0 victory over Lecce, having left Manchester United for €65m plus bonuses.

He had been in the Premier League since 2011 at Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion, Everton and from 2017 Old Trafford.

“Romelu hasn't been appreciated for most of the time he's been in the British game,” Martinez told the Daily Mail.

Lee leaves Verona for Belgium

South Korea winger Lee Seung-woo has left Verona to join Belgian side Sint-Truiden on a permanent basis.

Lee moved to Verona from Barcelona in the summer of 2017, with the Blaugrana retaining a buyback option.

The 21-year-old went on to make 43 appearances for the Gialloblu, scoring two goals and providing three assists.

However, he failed to hold down a first-team spot and will now link up with former Inter striker Facundo Colidio in Belgium.

Milan striker leaves for Belgium

However, the 20-year-old will now continue his development with Charleroi, who recently lost star attacker Victor Osimhen to Lille.

He is Italian by birth and representation but has yet to pledge his international allegiance and can still play for Cameroon.

Martinez: Lukaku needed 'fresh air'

Belgium CT Roberto Martinez believes Inter fans will see a revitalised Romelu Lukaku as the striker ‘needed fresh air’.

The summer-long Lukaku saga ended last week as the Belgian finally left Manchester United to join Inter in a reported €75m deal.

The 26-year-old has made an instant impact, generating plenty of buzz on social media and scoring four goals on his debut.

“The link between Romelu and Manchester United had simply come to an end,” Martinez told Het Laaste Niewus.

After a move to Leeds United broke down, Inter striker Facundo Colidio is now headed for Belgian side Sint-Truiden.
