Wilmots: 'Belgium can write history'

Belgium take on Argentina in the World Cup quarter-final today and Coach Marc Wilmots promised they “can write history.”

It kicks off at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT) in the Capital Brasilia.

“Many have said Argentina are not just Leo Messi and they are absolutely right,” said the tactician in his Press conference.

Wilmots: 'Thoroughly deserved'

Marc Wilmots assures Belgium “thoroughly deserved” their 2-1 victory over the USA in extra time.

The Red Devils were denied 15 times by goalkeeper Tim Howard, but eventually squeezed through for a quarter-final date with Argentina.

“We had at least 15 scoring opportunities, so we thoroughly deserved to go through, even though it was scary to the very end,” confessed the Coach.

Line-ups: Belgium-USA

Belgium and USA have injuries to contend with as they face off in the last Round of 16 fixture.

Wilmots: 'Belgium subs are key'

Belgium have scored more goals off the bench than any other side at this World Cup and Marc Wilmots said that’s no coincidence.

The Red Devils will face the USA in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, kicking off at 21.00 UK time (20.00 GMT).

“I have 23 players. It would be stupid on my part not to use them if they are the right ones to select for a particular opponent,” Wilmots told FIFA.

Belgium lose Vanden Borre

Belgium have lost right-back Anthony Vanden Borre for the rest of the World Cup with a broken ankle.

He was hobbling at the end of their 1-0 win over South Korea, but X-rays showed the damage was far worse than the original diagnosis of a sprain.

The 26-year-old has broken his ankle and will not be able to play again this summer.
