Wilmots: 'Belgium subs are key'

Belgium have scored more goals off the bench than any other side at this World Cup and Marc Wilmots said that’s no coincidence.

The Red Devils will face the USA in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, kicking off at 21.00 UK time (20.00 GMT).

“I have 23 players. It would be stupid on my part not to use them if they are the right ones to select for a particular opponent,” Wilmots told FIFA.

Belgium lose Vanden Borre

Belgium have lost right-back Anthony Vanden Borre for the rest of the World Cup with a broken ankle.

He was hobbling at the end of their 1-0 win over South Korea, but X-rays showed the damage was far worse than the original diagnosis of a sprain.

The 26-year-old has broken his ankle and will not be able to play again this summer.
