Agent: ‘Hamsik wants Napoli stay’

Marek Hamsik’s agent confirms his client wants to stay with Napoli despite “speculation and rumours”.

The Partenopei captain scored six goals and provided 11 assists in Serie A this season, helping his side to second-place.

“It’s been a year of redemption for Marek,” Juraj Venglos said on Radio Crc.

“Hamsik is happy to be playing for a Coach [Maurizio Sarri] who explains to him the best position to take up on the pitch and, above all, believes in him. That’s what’s made the difference this year.

Serie A Week 38: Did You Know?

Gonzalo Higuain shatters 66-year record, Edy Reja marks his Millennium and it's goodbye for Antonio Di Natale and Miroslav Klose in Susy Campanale's stats round-up.

Gonzalo Higuain set the new all-time record with 36 Serie A goals in 35 games, shattering Gunnar Nordahl’s 35 for Milan in 1949-50. Pipita hadn’t netted a single hat-trick this season until the final round.

The Argentine has scored one more goal than in his previous two top flight campaigns combined. He also set a new all-time Serie A record by finding the net in 25 different games.

Marek Hamsik matches Diego Armando Maradona’s tally of 81 goals in a Napoli jersey. Napoli further improved their club record to 82 Serie A points.
