Badelj comeback feels right

Milan Badelj is returning to Fiorentina just a year after his free transfer to Lazio, but Steven Moore believes it’s best for all concerned.

Marginally missing out on a top four spot in the 2017-18 Serie A season, Lazio were eager to make their goal of Champions League football become reality the following year. To ensure their success, the Biancocelesti invested heavily, making several acquisitions in the summer transfer window to reinforce their squad. One of those new additions, Milan Badelj, seemed an outstanding move by management.

Viola desperately seeking strikers

Fiorentina were the home of Gabriel Batistuta and Luca Toni, so Giancarlo Rinaldi finds their current crop of forwards a painful sight.

If real-life honeymoon periods lasted as long as their footballing equivalent, you would fear for many couples even making it up the steps to the airplane. Some would glance at William Hill bonus odds on a divorce during the exchange of vows. The glorious chanting at the arrival of new owner Rocco Commisso in Florence is already in danger of being drowned out by the grumbles about a lack of significant acquisitions. Whatever happened to for better, for worse?
