Mancini’s Inter must take more risks

Despite returning to winning ways against Bologna, Varun Mathure feels that Roberto Mancini needs to gamble more with his Inter side.

It isn’t often that you find a team that has scored an average of one goal per game occupying top spot in their League. However, that’s exactly where Inter find themselves, after grinding out their fifth 1-0 win of the campaign, despite being reduced to 10 men.

‘Always difficult at Palermo’

Inter Coach Roberto Mancini warns “it’s never easy to play at Palermo”, and dismisses Scudetto talk.

The Nerazzurri are currently third in Serie A, just a point behind leaders Fiorentina, and Mancini was asked in his pre-match Press conference if he was disappointed not to labelled as potential winners.

“I’m very pleased, I think the same,” Mancini insisted.

“Napoli, Roma and Juventus are better equipped.

Ausilio: ‘Inter are complete’

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio sees the squad as “complete”, so there will be no January spending spree.

The Nerazzurri brought in a large number of players this summer, but announced a €45m loss as accounts were presented today.

“It would be a mistake to have a transfer campaign in January as impressive as the one in the summer, or last winter,” Ausilio told assembled media.

Shaqiri: ‘Inter for Scudetto’

Xherdan Shaqiri hopes Inter will win the League this season, despite an unhappy end to his Nerazzurri career.

The Swiss winger arrived at San Siro from Bayern Munich in January, but was moved on to Stoke City this summer after just six months.

“Unfortunately not everything went for the best at Inter,” Shaqiri admitted to FCInterNews.

“In the end the club needed someone to leave, and I was one of the few they’d received offers for who could bring some cash in.

The Argentine is at the heart of the Biscione's strike-force alongside Stevan Jovetic, and Mancini will be counting on him to break down Juventus this Sunday.

“He's the Coach who was able to counsel me the most,” he told Il Secolo XIX. “I learned how to be a man who works for the team thanks to him.

'Inter not equipped for Scudetto'

Roberto Mancini believes Juventus, Napoli and Roma are 'better equipped' for the Scudetto than Inter: 'It's very difficult'.

The former Manchester City Coach managed to keep the Nerazzurri at the top of the standings for much of this campaign before finally tumbling to Fiorentina.

Many were surprised by his success in his first full season back in charge with Inter, and Mancini can see the grounds for scepticism.

Inter offer Cerci escape?

Inter could reportedly offer Alessio Cerci a way out of Milan, in exchange for Andrea Ranocchia.

The winger is on loan with the Rossoneri from Atletico Madrid, with Fernando Torres having moved the other way, but has not endeared himself to the fans or Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic.

Nerazzurri Coach Roberto Mancini is known to be an admirer of Cerci, and Calciomercato reports that a loan exchange could take place, with Ranocchia moving the other way.

Mancini: ‘Important to beat Juventus’

Inter Coach Roberto Mancini admits beating Juventus would be “a big coup and an important thing.”

The Nerazzurri welcome the Turin giants to San Siro after the international break, having not won the home fixture of the Derby d’Italia since 2010.

“Beating Juve would be a big coup, and an important thing,” Mancini told reporters as he attended an event in Montefeltro.

“It’s the Derby d’Italia, I’m sure it will be a great evening between two great teams. Now we have to play like Inter.

Roberto Mancini saw his Inter side lose to Chiasso, but “there’s time” to prepare for the Juventus match.

The Nerazzurri went down 3-1 to the Swiss Challenge League side, though it was an experimental team, with many players off on international duty.

“The important thing is that [Jonathan] Biabiany played 90 minutes,” Mancini told Inter Channel after the match.
