Leo to leave in June?

Reports in Italy indicate that should Leonardo leave Inter in the summer Massimo Moratti will seek to appoint either Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola.

Humiliating defeats in the Derby della Madonnina and the Champions League have seriously undermined Leonardo's position on Inter's bench.

Moratti is said to be uncertain as to whether Leonardo can recover from the events of the last week and although firing the Brazilian immediately is out of the question, it appears he doesn't have a future at Inter beyond the summer.

'Milan helped Schalke beat Inter'

Schalke manager Ralf Rangnick claims Max Allegri's Milan helped his side beat Inter in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The Bundesliga outfit came back from behind at San Siro to win 5-2 and look almost certain to qualify for the semi-finals of the competition.

"I did well to watch the Milan derby personally," Rangnick said. "I understood that Inter didn't press at all in midfield and left big spaces.

"They were vulnerable to quick opponents like Alex Pato and those who are capable of taking the initiative like Milan did.

Guardiola to replace Leo?

Inter will think about appointing Barcelona Coach Pep Guardiola if results continue to deteriorate under Leonardo, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Just three days after suffering an ignominious 3-0 defeat to Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, Inter were humiliated by Schalke.

The Champions League holders lost 5-2 at home and look distinctly unlikely to retain their crown.

Before last night's game, Inter President Massimo Moratti said: "I hope that Leo stays with us. He has a two-year contract."

Moratti worried by tiredness

Inter President Massimo Moratti is worried by the tiredness his players have shown against Milan and Schalke.

Last year's treble winners have suffered two humiliating defeats in the space of three days and appear out of contention for the Scudetto and the Champions League.

Moratti held talks with Leonardo until 12:40am last night to discuss matters.

"It was a chat with a serious person," Moratti said. "Of course I didn't find Leo high on morale. He is not used to these situation.

Cambiasso: 'Inter can qualify'

Esteban Cambiasso believes Inter “have the possibility to fight back and qualify” after their Schalke setback.

Last night's Champions League quarter-final was something of a disaster for the holders, who lost 5-2 on home turf.

“Analysing the match we can say we started well, then after the break we conceded two goals and a red card, which ruined everything,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“Now we have to remain calm and start again, without hiding from what happened, and keep a cool head.

Five goals to question Leo

As Inter's season looks to have completely derailed, Rob Paton assesses the damage two consecutive defeats have inflicted on the Nerazzurri and their Coach's reputation

Leonardo's attempts to bounce back from the weekend's derby defeat could not have gotten off to a better start with Dejan Stankovic's wonder-strike inside the opening minute. Psychologically it should have been the catalyst for a confident and complete response to the 3-0 Milan loss.
