Santon: 'Cesena are what I needed'

Davide Santon is back in the Italy squad after a January move to Cesena. “This club is exactly what I needed.”

The full-back had been reticent to leave Inter after Jose Mourinho launched him into the spotlight aged 18, but had barely featured in recent months due to injury and poor form.

“I can say it now: Cesena is exactly what I needed,” said Santon on his return to the Azzurri.

Thiago: 'Scudetto and Champions!'

Thiago Motta revealed what happened in the Allianz Arena locker room and feels Inter “are targeting the Scudetto and Champions League.”

The midfielder was part of the squad that completed that historic turnaround to win 3-2 in Munich and reach the quarter-finals.

“Obviously Leonardo complimented everyone, but he too was very happy. It was in some ways a new sensation for him, as he hasn't been a Coach for long, so he experienced it intensely along with us,” Thiago told Goal.com.

Ranocchia could need surgery

Andrea Ranocchia has left the Italy camp due to a knee injury, but could miss the derby and the rest of the season if he requires surgery.

The Inter defender was forced to walk away from the Azzurri training ground ahead of games against Slovenia and Ukraine.

"The knee is quite inflamed and I hope I won't have to undergo another operation.

"I also hope to be available for the derby on April 2. The situation got worse after the first leg of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich."

Moratti tells Milan to pipe down

Inter President Massimo Moratti is fed up with Milan complaining about the goal Giampaolo Pazzini scored against Lecce at the weekend.

Milan feel Pazzini used his arm to bring the ball down and that it should have been ruled out, which might have led the game to finish in a 0-0 draw.

Last week, Zlatan Ibrahimovic had a potentially match-winning goal disallowed against Bari for using his arm and Milan feel that they are being hard done by.

Thiago Motta fit to face Slovenia

Inter midfielder Thiago Motta should be fit in time to play for Italy against Slovenia in a Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.

The 28-year-old of Brazilian descent trained this morning, indicating that he has recovered from an injury to his left knee.

Motta's club-mate Andrea Ranocchia was given the day off today to see if his own knee problem heals.

However, it seems unlikely that he will play a part against Slovenia.

Buffon tips Inter for Scudetto

Juventus goalkeeper Gigi Buffon believes Inter have what it takes to zip past Milan and retain the Scudetto.

Inter closed the gap at the top to just two points at the weekend and go into the Derby della Madonnina with a chance to overtake their rivals.

"Inter are the favourites for the Scudetto but Milan are the stronger team," Buffon said.

"With Juve, we have thrown away second place. We lack strength in terms of character and morale in the bad moments.

Pazzini ready for first derby

Inter striker Giampaolo Pazzini says he can't wait to star in his first Derby della Madonnina next week.

The 26-year-old Italy international scored the winner against Lecce on Sunday and helped Inter close the gap with League leader's Milan to just two points.

"It's my first derby and I can't wait for it to arrive, but it will not be the game that decides our season," Pazzini said. "There will be another seven after it.

Moratti: Sanchez is a dream player

Inter President Massimo Moratti has praised Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez leading to speculation about a move in the summer.

The Chile international has emerged as one of the best players in Serie A this season and has attracted attention from Europe's biggest clubs.

Inter inquired about signing Sanchez in the January transfer window, only to be rebuffed by Udinese, but the interest remains.

"He is a fantastic player and has been for some years," Moratti said. "Udinese have also been good at getting the best out of his qualities.

'Inter want Ramirez'

Inter are interested in signing Bologna's tricky young Uruguayan Gaston Ramirez, according to the club's director of sport Carmine Longo.

The 20-year-old recently scored against Cagliari and Lecce, and is among the brightest young talents in Serie A.

Speaking to Telecentro, Longo said: "He has five years remaining on his contract. He'll stay at Bologna for as long as we manage to resist the pressure from the offers.

"He already has some important offers. At the moment he isn't ready, and we aren't either.

Seedorf 'hoping Inter slip up'

Clarence Seedorf admits Milan must rediscover their form and now “hope Inter make a mistake.”

The Serie A leaders fell to a surprise 1-0 defeat at Palermo last night, meaning the gap could be cut to just two points today if Inter beat Lecce.

“There is a great deal of anger within the squad, as we were unable to finish off our chances and were also quite unlucky,” said the Dutchman.
