Coppa Italia Final at San Siro in 2021?

The 2020-21 Coppa Italia Final is reportedly scheduled for May 19 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan, commonly known as San Siro.

The tournament usually concludes at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, but that won’t be possible next term.

This is because Euro 2020 was bumped to next summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The opening fixture of that competition is now Italy-Turkey on June 11 at the Stadio Olimpico.

UEFA need the stadium handed over to them from May 18.

Inter courting frustrated Messi

As speculation grows that Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona, his father Jorge has reportedly moved into an apartment right next to the Inter HQ.

The Argentina international has not held back in venting his frustration at the direction this club has taken and they could end the season without a trophy for the first time in 12 years.

According to various reports in Spain, Messi has the ability to walk away from his contract at the end of this season.

Eriksen: 'Italian football enjoyable'

Inter January signing Christian Eriksen concedes there are differences between the Premier League and Italian football, but ‘it’s enjoyable and I like it.’

The Dane was again excluded from the starting XI in their 2-0 Europa League win over Getafe, but scored the second goal within a minute of coming on.

“When you come on from the bench, you always want to make the biggest impact you can on the game,” he told Inter TV.

Europa: Inter to face Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen beat Rangers 1-0 to confirm their Europa League quarter-final against Inter on Monday August 10.

The fixture had been all but guaranteed anyway, considering Leverkusen had a 3-1 first leg away lead, but finished the job this evening.

It means that Inter and Bayer Leverkusen will go head-to-head in Dusseldorf for the Europa League quarter-final.

That knockout round will kick off on Monday August 10 at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

Lazio officially in the Champions League

Roma’s elimination from the Europa League means that Lazio have officially qualified for the 2020-21 Champions League.

There had still been a slim chance that fourth place in Serie A would not be enough to guarantee a spot in the tournament.

That is because UEFA have a limit of at most five clubs from the same country participating in the Champions League.

If Roma had won the Europa League and Napoli also won the Champions League, that would mean five teams gained a place in next season’s main tournament.

Dirty Inter can go all the way

The Nerazzurri advance to the quarter-finals after a hard-fought win over Getafe and Vilizar Yakimov thinks they have what it takes to go all the way in the Europa League.

It wasn’t pretty and it definitely wasn’t easy, but Inter finally reached the last eight of a European competition for the first time since 2010-11. Antonio Conte was right to predict that the Nerazzurri would be in for a “dirty game against a tough opponent” and this is exactly what their Round of 16 clash with Getafe proved to be.

OFFICIAL: Alexis until June 2023

Inter have officially announced that Alexis Sanchez has signed a deal until June 2023 with the Nerazzurri.

After confirming the move last night, Inter have now announced a permanent deal with the Chile international.

Sanchez arrived on loan from Manchester United last summer and has contributed four goals and nine assists in his 22 League games since the return to Serie A.

The 31-year-old terminated his contract with the Red Devils by mutual consent, meaning that the former Udinese winger moves to Inter on a free transfer.

“We will announce tomorrow, so I can confirm that he’s agreed, and we’ve agreed,” the Norwegian said at a press conference last night.

Bordalas has penalty regrets

Getafe coach Jose Bordalas inevitably felt regret at the missed penalty after a 2-0 Europa League defeat to Inter. ‘It would’ve been a very different game.’

The Spaniards fielded a 4-5-1 formation and started strong with their ferocious pressing game, but Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen goals sealed the 2-0 victory.

When Getafe had the opportunity to equalise from the spot, Jorge Molina fired his penalty wide of the target.
