Juventus to show off Supercoppa

Juventus will lift the Supercoppa Italiana in front of their home fans ahead of Monday night’s game with Chievo.

The Bianconeri beat Milan 1-0 in Jeddah on Wednesday to take the trophy, their first of the season and of 2019.

Gattuso given one-match ban

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has been given a one-match touchline ban for aggressive behaviour during Wednesday’s Supercoppa.

The FIGC’s sporting judiciary ruled on Thursday that Gattuso ‘was threatening near the referee at the end’ of Milan’s 1-0 defeat, ‘protested a decision by shouting and subsequently addressed the referee with offensive and insinuating language before the award ceremony’.

Calabria rues 'sense of injustice'

Davide Calabria admits there is a ‘sense of injustice’ for Milan’s Supercoppa defeat to Juventus but insists they are ‘stronger and more united than before’.

Refereeing controversy overshadowed Milan’s 1-0 loss to Juve in Jeddah, and Calabria could not help but feel aggrieved by the decisions that went against his team. 

“I have so many things going through my head,” wrote the right-back on Instagram.

Suso admits Milan 'anger'

Suso admits he is ‘angry’ Milan could not win the Supercoppa but ‘promises we’ll already be smiling again’ after they face Genoa in Serie A on Monday.

Suso was suspended for the showdown in Jeddah, which saw Juve come away with a 1-0 victory, but the Spain attacker assured Milan were determined ‘more than ever’ to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

“Anger at not being there with you,” he wrote on Instagram.

Higuain: If you're looking for trouble...

Milan striker Gonzalo Higuain warned reporters ‘if you’re looking for trouble with me, you’ll never get it.’

MilanNews snapped up footage of Higuain after he landed at Milan Malpensa airport in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The Argentine was returning from Jeddah with his Rossoneri teammates, who lost 1-0 to Juventus in the Supercoppa.

Szczesny: 'Juve dominated Milan'

Wojciech Szczesny insists Juventus “dominated Milan and deservedly won the Supercoppa,” while his save “helped me stay wide awake.”

Romagnoli rants at Supercoppa ref

Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli claims they were “booked or sent off at every minimal contact” with Juventus in the Supercoppa.

The Bianconeri won 1-0 thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo glancing header, but Franck Kessie saw red after a VAR review for his high tackle on Emre Can.

“The way the cards were handed out was unusual, as we were booked or sent off at every minimal contact,” Romagnoli told Milan TV.

Trio banned for Milan

Milan will have to do without Franck Kessie, Alessio Romagnoli and Davide Calabria against Genoa, as they’ll be suspended after the Supercoppa.

The Rossoneri were beaten 1-0 in Jeddah by Juventus this evening and it proved costly going forward in Serie A too.

Kessie was shown a straight red card after a VAR review for his stamp on Emre Can, meaning his ban of at least one match is automatic.

Can anyone stop SuperJuve?

The Juventus juggernaut keeps on rolling, as Milan were barged out of the way in Jeddah for the Supercoppa, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi.

Italian football, to paraphrase Gary Lineker, is a simple game. You can play it when you like, where you like, but in the end Juventus win. They became the most successful side in the history of the Supercoppa outright without even having to be anywhere near their best. Whenever, wherever, the Bianconeri and this trophy were meant to be together.
