Politano: ‘Can’t wait for derby’

Inter winger Matteo Politano “can’t wait” for the Derby della Madonnina against Milan, insisting “there are no favourites”.

Vecino still in doubt for Inter

Reports suggest Inter midfielder Matias Vecino only has muscular fatigue, but he could still miss the derby with Milan.

The 27-year-old left the Uruguay camp with an injury, and returned to Italy for tests.

Sky reports that he only has muscular fatigue, but is nevertheless a doubt for the Derby della Madonnina on Sunday night.

Vecino will be evaluated on a daily basis by the Nerazzurri medical staff, but with Barcelona coming up in midweek he won’t be risked if he isn’t 100 per cent fit.

Guida to referee Milan derby

Marco Guida has been announced as the referee for Sunday’s derby between Inter and Milan.

The first Derby della Madonnina of the season takes place at San Siro this weekend, with the Nerazzurri four points ahead of their city rivals.

Today the AIA has announced the officials for this weekend’s fixtures, with Guida assigned to the derby, and Massimiliano Irrati on the VAR.

Elsewhere, Luca Pairetto will be the man in the middle as Spal visit Roma, while Maurizio Mariani will run the rule over Udinese-Napoli.

Gonzalo Higuain looks forward to the Derby della Madonnina, and believes Milan “have the means to win”.

The Rossoneri face Inter on Sunday night for the first city derby of the season, and it’ll be the first Pipita has played in.

“All derbies have a special flavour,” Higuain told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“It’ll be the same this time, and because it’s my first for Milan it’ll be nice to play in it. We’re waiting with tranquility, concentration and the desire to do well.
