FIFPro: 'Rescind Muntari card'

FIFPro demand that Sulley Muntari’s yellow card is rescinded after he was racially abused, but the Italian authorities opted to penalise the player rather than Cagliari.

The incident occurred during Sunday’s 1-0 home win for the Sardinians over Muntari’s Pescara.

The Ghana midfielder heard racist chants from a small group in the crowd and, when he urged the referee to do something, he was booked.

Muntari defended by UN

The head of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights has backed Pescara’s Sulley Muntari after he walked off against Cagliari.

The Ghanaian midfielder was subjected to racist abuse from the stands, but when he complained to the referee he was shown a yellow card.

That prompted the former Milan player to walk off the pitch, and he has received backing from the UN High Commissioner for Human rights.

Serie A Week 34: Did You Know?

Keita Balde Diao matches Roberto Mancini with a Derby della Capitale brace, Napoli's first San Siro double since 1933 and Atalanta end Juventus curse in Susy Campanale's stats.

Lazio hadn’t won the Serie A derby since a 3-2 thriller on November 11, 2012, managing three draws and five defeats. The Biancocelesti have lost just one of the last 12 rounds, winning eight.

Keita Balde Diao is the first Aquile player to bag a Derby della Capitale brace since Roberto Mancini in November 1998.

Dusan Basta’s last Serie A goal was also against Roma, albeit for Udinese in March 2014, ending a 79-game drought.

Pescara midfielder Muntari walked off the pitch after receiving racist abuse from the stands against Cagliari, as the referee booked him for dissent after he complained.

“It’s a very sad situation when these things still happen,” Boateng, who walked off after receiving abuse from Pro Patria fans in a friendly while at Milan, told reporters in Spain.

Strootman & racist chants investigated

The FIGC is to investigate Kevin Strootman’s perceived simulation against Lazio and the racist chants directed at Antonio Rudiger and Sulley Muntari.

According to Corriere dello Sport, FIGC chief prosecutor Giuseppe Pecoraro sent a report to the governing body’s court for sporting justice on Monday.

In it, the former Prefect of Rome demanded the use of television replays to assess whether Strootman dived before referee Daniele Orsato awarded Roma a penalty in Sunday’s Derby della Capitale, which Lazio won 3-1.

Muntari: 'Racist insults from kids'

Muntari reacts to racist abuse

Pescara midfielder Sulley Muntari was booked and walked off the field in protest at alleged racist abuse from the Cagliari fans.

The incident occurred during the 1-0 defeat to Cagliari at the Stadio Sant'Elia.

The Ghana international was furious and protested against referee Daniele Minelli, visibly agitated and slapping the skin on his own arm to make the point.

It seems that Minelli did not hear the racist insults from the stands, and booked Muntari for dissent.

Cagliari ease past Pescara

Cagliari made it harder work than expected against already-relegated Pescara, but Joao Pedro’s penalty proved to be enough.

It’s hard to believe these sides were promoted from Serie B last summer, as while the Delfini are going straight back down, the Sardinians consolidated their mid-table comfort.

Despite the heroics of Vincenzo Fiorillo to keep out a series of Marco Borriello headers, there was nothing the goalkeeper could do on a Joao Pedro spot-kick.

The penalty was awarded for a Michele Fornasier handling offence.
