VIDEO: Pirlo's ideal player

Andrea Pirlo chose which elements he’d pick from the likes of Xavi, Gennaro Gattuso, Lionel Messi and himself to build the perfect player.

The former Juventus, Milan, Inter and Brescia midfielder gave the list to the website of his current club, New York City FC.

“I think Xavi of Barcelona for the brain. Vision, Andrea Pirlo – because he’s the best in the world!” said Pirlo.

Zola: 'Pjanic best on free kicks'

Gianfranco Zola analysed the free kick techniques of Paulo Dybala, Adem Ljajic and Miralem Pjanic ahead of Juventus-Torino.

‘Magic Box’ was one of the greatest free kick takers, so who better for Tuttosport to ask about the current crop of specialists, above all leading into tomorrow’s Derby della Mole?

“With so many talented free kick takers, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Turin Derby was decided by a dead-ball situation,” Zola told the newspaper.

Buffon: Juve, FIFA or MLS?

Gigi Buffon has offers from Juventus, the FIGC, FIFA and even to continue playing in MLS with New York City FC, claim Tuttosport.

The goalkeeper turns 40 in January and has hinted this will be the final season of his playing career.

He has already said he won’t become a Coach, so the proposals are flocking in for his next career step.

Naturally, Buffon has a place assured in the Juventus Board of Directors, although it’s not clear what his role would be.

Biglia: Pirlo a superhero, Montolivo…

Lucas Biglia says he chose Milan’s No 21 jersey due to “superhero” Andrea Pirlo and that he and Riccardo Montolivo can play together.

Speaking at a Press conference for Saturday’s clash with former club Lazio, Biglia spoke of his delight at joining a “world-class” team in Milan and admitted the opportunity of playing at San Siro each week was “a dream”.

“Injury-prone tag? It annoys me. I’ve only ever had three muscle injuries and joint problems,” he said at a Press conference.

Bonaventura: ‘Scudetto difficult for Milan’

Giacomo Bonaventura admits winning the Scudetto this year “will be very difficult” for Milan.

The Rossoneri have spent big this summer thanks to the new Chinese owners, and are targeting at least a place in the top-four.

Some have suggested they could even make a title challenge straight away, but Bonaventura is urging caution.

“There’s a lot of enthusiasm, also for having so many new signings,” the midfielder told Milan TV, as he answered fan questions.

Juve work on Iniesta, Can, Goretzka

Juventus are already working on imminent free agents Andres Iniesta, Leon Goretzka and Emre Can, claim Tuttosport.

According to the Turin-based newspaper, the Bianconeri have already set the wheels in motion for what would be sensational swoops.

Their interest in Germany international Can is no secret and he is refusing to sign a new contract with Liverpool, so can technically agree terms with another club from February 1.

Matuidi wrong man for Juve

Juventus want a new midfielder, but Blaise Matuidi is not the answer, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

The Juventus midfield has been somewhat of an enigma the past few seasons. Fans of the Old Lady will fondly remember the trio of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Paul Pogba roaming the pitch in 2015. The first two were let go and Manchester United made former player Pogba the most expensive footballer ever last summer.

In came Miralem Pjanic in a stunning Juve move, weakening scudetto rivals Roma with one swift transfer. The Bosnian maestro was paired with Sami Khedira, as Claudio Marchisio battled another injury riddled period. With splendid success.

Pirlo: ‘Juventus still the team to beat’

Andrea Pirlo doesn’t think Milan will challenge for the Scudetto this year, and says Juventus “are still the team to beat”.

The New York City midfielder played for both clubs, but doesn’t think the Rossoneri’s capture of Leonardo Bonucci will give them the edge in the title race.

“Juve are still the team to beat,” Pirlo explained to La Repubblica.

“They’ve strengthened with Douglas Costa, [Federico] Bernardeschi and [Wojciech] Szczesny and now they’ll take someone else.

Forget Bonucci, Marchisio's back!

Leonardo Bonucci may be gone, but Adam Digby is happy to see a fully recovered Claudio Marchisio leading Juventus.

It has been a busy but confusing few months for Juventus. Fresh from lifting their sixth-consecutive Serie A title, but suffering a heavy Champions League Final defeat at the hands of Real Madrid, the summer has been no less tumultuous for the Italian giants. Director general Beppe Marotta and his right-hand man Fabio Paratici have made some superb signings, but the excellent work done in securing new arrivals was at least partially undone by the loss of Leonardo Bonucci.
