Pirlo: 'Not disappointed'

New York City FC's Andrea Pirlo is 'not disappointed' about missing Euro 2016: 'Antonio Conte is right'.

The midfielder has enjoyed a status as an unquestioned starter for the Azzurri for a decade, but at 37, he was deemed unfit to make the current European squad.

“I spoke with the Coach and I already knew what I had to do, and what he had to do too,” Pirlo told Sky Sports. “There is no disappointment.

Dybala: ‘I want to keep winning’

Paulo Dybala isn’t satisfied by his stellar first season at Juventus - “when you get accustomed to winning, you want to keep winning”.

The Argentinian forward joined the Bianconeri last summer in a €40m deal from Palermo, scoring 22 goals in all competitions as the Turin giants won the double.

“The truth is that when you meet your objectives, it’s difficult to slow down,” Dybala told La Nacion in his homeland.

Conte: ‘I spoke to Pirlo’

Italy CT Antonio Conte says he spoke to Andrea Pirlo before opting not to call him for Euro 2016.

The New York City midfielder and his MLS colleague Sebastian Giovinco have both been left out of the squad for this summer’s tournament, almost certainly spelling the end of Pirlo’s international career.

“I spoke to Andrea, I needed to hear from him and we sent people to the US,” Conte explained in a Press conference at Coverciano today.

Conte names Italy squad

Antonio Conte has named his 30-man preliminary Italy squad for Euro 2016, with no place for Sebastian Giovinco or Andrea Pirlo.

The CT will name a 23-man squad for the tournament, so seven will have to be cut from the initial list.

The Azzurri stars will have the chance to prove their worth ahead of the tournament in France, with friendlies against Scotland and Finland.

MLS players Pirlo and Giovinco have not been included in the squad, with Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo also left-out.
