Conte ponders post-Marchisio options

Azzurri Coach Antonio Conte needs to choose a replacement for injured Claudio Marchisio amid six available options.

The Juventus midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament in yesterday's 4-0 thumping of Palermo and won't be back until October, ruling him out of this summer's Euro 2016.

The Principino was among the top candidates to cover Italy's midfield and his sudden withdrawal opens the race to a variety of midfielders.

Pirlo: 'Satisfied with Italy career'

Andrea Pirlo is at peace with the possibility of not going to Euro 2016 and tips Antonio Conte for success at Chelsea.

“I am happy with what I’ve done in my career. Of course the Euros we lost in Ukraine hurts, but it’d be unjust to say I wasn’t satisfied,” Pirlo told Sky Sport Italia.

The Ivorian never saw eye to eye with his Catalan mentor whilst in Spain, and the selfish attitude shown by the 33 year-old at The Etihad in recent months goes against everything the future Citizens boss stands for.
