Pirlo: ‘Juventus? Anything is possible…’

Andrea Pirlo insists “anything is possible” for Juventus against Real Madrid, and congratulates Milan Coach Gennaro Gattuso.

The former midfielder played for both clubs, and attended a Lega Calcio event today to promote the Coppa Italia final between the two.

Tomorrow sees Juve take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu, as they look to overturn a 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Turin.

“Anything is possible in football,” Pirlo explained to MilanNews.

Marchisio not ready to leave Juve

Claudio Marchisio’s father insists the Juventus midfielder is not moving to MLS, the Premier League or Bundesliga. “The glass hasn’t overflowed yet.”

The Bianconeri fan favourite has barely featured this season, even after recovering from a serious knee injury.

“Claudio is calm and for a few months has been in good shape, working hard and ensuring he is always ready, but then the Coach makes his decisions,” Stefano Marchisio told juvenews.eu.

Pirlo could get Italy role

It’s reported that Andrea Pirlo could take a role in the Italy coaching setup, though it could depend on who the CT is.

The midfielder retired at the end of last year, having finished his playing days in MLS with New York City FC.

Now Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that his next move could be to join the coaching staff at Coverciano, having won the World Cup with the Azzurri in 2006.

Pirlo would be happy to work alongside either Antonio Conte or Carlo Ancelotti, should either of those men be appointed as CT.

Di Biagio drops Balotelli hint

Interim Italy Coach Gigi Di Biagio has hinted at a possible recall for Nice striker Mario Balotelli.

The Azzurri are currently without a tactician after Giampiero Ventura was sacked for missing out on the 2018 World Cup.

Under-21 boss Di Biagio has been given the reins until June, or at least for two friendlies next month against England and Argentina.

Pirlo on the past and the future

Andrea Pirlo confirmed his testimonial will be at San Siro on May 21, but also commented on the Nazionale, Scudetto race, Gigi Buffon and Milan.

The Maestro stopped playing for New York City FC last year, but will officially call it a day in Milan, a choice of venue that raised quite a few questions among Rossoneri and Juventus supporters.

“I want to see the same spirit as always, so we can have fun and be together with our families to enjoy the occasion,” said Pirlo in a Press conference.

Pirlo sets San Siro testimonial

Andrea Pirlo will play his final match at San Siro on May 21 to raise money for charity. “It’s the chance to share a special evening doing what we love most.”

The former Brescia, Inter, Reggina, Milan, Juventus and New York City FC midfielder decided to hang up his boots at the end of 2017.

He’ll pull them on one last time at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan for a charity event.

Biglia: 'Gattuso believed in me'

Lucas Biglia enjoyed his debut Milan goal, using the occasion to hit back at critics and thank Coach Gennaro Gattuso. “He believed in me during a dark period.”

The former Lazio midfielder found the net with a snapshot in today’s 4-0 victory away to SPAL.

“I am happy, as the first six months have not been easy,” Biglia told Mediaset Premium, Sky Sport Italia and Milan TV.

Pirlo: ‘Calcio needs to regenerate’

Italy legend Andrea Pirlo believes calcio must “regenerate” before the Azzurri can return to the top of the world.

The national team failed to qualify for this summer’s World Cup, and one of the key men from the triumphant 2006 team says fundamental reform is needed.

“Italian football needs to regenerate, to change,” Pirlo insisted, speaking to Sky.

“It’ll take time, but right now we need to start from scratch after the failure to qualify for the World Cup.
