Official: Fiorentina sack Montella

Vincenzo Montella has been sacked as Fiorentina Coach, a statement declaring it to be 'for the good of the club'.

It was widely known that the Viola were considering the former striker’s future, after recent comments deemed to be critical of the club.

Fiorentina consider Montella future

It’s reported the next few hours will be decisive for Vincenzo Montella’s Fiorentina future, but Paulo Sousa denies any talks.

It was reported at the weekend that a decision on the Coach’s future would be made today, with the Viola hierarchy angered by some on Montella’s recent comments.

The former striker has another two years on his deal in Tuscany, meaning he would be due a pay-off of around €3.4m, unless he were to agree to a mutual termination.

Montella fate decided on Mon

Fiorentina will make a definitive decision on Vincenzo Montella tomorrow, as Paulo Sousa is favourite to take over.

The Coach infuriated the club, as patron Andrea Della Valle released a terse statement warning there could be no more “waiting around” to plan the next season.

Montella not only failed to give a clear answer on whether he’ll stay, but also irritated them by going on vacation, so the club can only contact him via his agent.

Ferrero: 'Nobody is irreplaceable'

President Massimo Ferrero warned Sampdoria Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic that “nobody is irreplaceable.”

The patron spoke to Sky Sport Italia after a 1-1 draw with Milan at San Siro.

“It was a great game, but we had an alien on the pitch: Samuel Eto’o!”

Before the match, Milan CEO Adriano Galliani revealed over the summer he had been “a millimetre” away from getting Eto’o.
