Higuain: ‘Bad Atalanta memories’

Gonzalo Higuain admits he “doesn’t have good memories” of Atalanta, after missing a penalty for Napoli last season.

“I don’t have good memories of Bergamo,” Higuain admitted, at the presentation of Napoli’s 2016 calendar.

Sarri: 'Napoli sent a signal'

Maurizio Sarri said Napoli “sent a signal” with their Coppa Italia win over Verona and hinted at January transfers.

The Partenopei swept Verona aside 3-0 to secure a quarter-final spot against Inter, to be played at the Stadio San Paolo.

“We won 16 out of 23 games, scoring 34 goals on home turf and the only thing you ask me about is what didn’t work,” said the Coach in a Press conference.

Napoli can’t rely on Higuain alone

Napoli have been prolific all season long and are a true Scudetto contender. But they have been relying on Gonzalo Higuain for goals too much, writes Vincent Van Genechten.

Only Fiorentina (31) and Roma (30) have scored more goals this season than Napoli: 28. Maurizio Sarri’s offensive tactics have transformed the Partenopei in possibly the most efficient and deadly team in Serie A. Lorenzo Insigne has been better than ever as Napoli’s playmaker and their midfield with Marek Hamsik, Allan and Jorginho has been performing.

Sarri: 'Only Napoli played'

Maurizio Sarri felt Napoli’s 0-0 draw with Roma “was one-way traffic, as we were the only team playing football.”

The Giallorossi had a goal disallowed because the Antonio Rudiger cross had looped out of play, but that was their only genuine opportunity.

“I don’t know if the ball went out completely, but in any case Juan Iturbe was fouling Raul Albiol in the middle, so it should’ve been disallowed anyway,” Sarri told Mediaset Premium.

Careca: 'Higuain key for Napoli title'

Napoli legend Careca believes Gonzalo Higuain is the key to winning the Scudetto and Jorginho earns admirers in Brazil.

“My love for Napoli was pure and I played my farewell game here rather than in Brazil, as I wanted to pay tribute to the city,” revealed Careca on a visit to the San Paolo.
